ALBANY – State Senator William Larkin has secured a $200,000 state grant for the Village of Woodbury Highway Department to purchase a new recycling truck for organic recycling.
“Recycling is a key component to keeping our environment clean and healthy, not only for ourselves, but for our children and our children’s children,” the senator said.
Orange County has approved single-stream recycling, meaning no more sorting for residents and the use of one truck for pick-up. Larkin noted the new truck will help the village’s efforts to re-use, reduce and recycle.
Mayor Michael Queenan said the grant “will make our recycling process more efficient to our residents and save taxpayers from a potential increase.”
