GREENPORT – A City of Hudson man was arrested on Monday by Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies on a charge that he menacing a police officer with a large knife.  Aaron Silveraterry, 28, was arrested on a warrant also charging him with criminal possession of a weapon.
On September 23, deputies were called to Healy Boulevard in Greenport for a report of a man throwing objects at passing vehicles. He was located in the parking lot of Midas and seen holding a large knife. He was instructed several times to drop the weapon while making aggressive movement toward officers. Officers deployed a Taser to subdue the suspect, who was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson for evaluation.
Silveraterry was later placed in the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Assisting the sheriff’s office were the State Police and District Attorney’s Office.
