RHINEBECK – Democrat Terry Gipson of Rhinebeck is running in November for the State Senate seat he lost two years ago to Republican Susan Serino and he believes he has the advantage since the 41st District went for Bernie Sanders in the Democratic presidential primary this past summer.
With endorsements from Citizen Action of New York and the Dutchess County Action Alliance, Gipson believes there is sufficient politically progressive support in the district to put him over the top this fall.
“There is a very active and connected base of progressives that understand what Citizen Action is all about and so we do believe that the key to winning this race is motivating that base and letting them know that while Bernie Sanders while Bernie Sanders is no longer in the race for president, they do have a local state senator that is very much supportive of his issues and intends to implement them as best as possible on the state level,” Gipson said.
Serino, a conservative Republican, said she stands by her record in her effort to retain her seat.
