WASHINGTON – The US Department of Agriculture has named three New York counties as being eligible for natural disaster aid due to cross losses caused by front and freeze that occurred from February 14 through May 4 in 11 Massachusetts counties.
Farmers and ranchers suffered significant losses caused by the cold weather.
In New York, the counties of Columbia, Dutchess and Rensselaer are also eligible for natural disaster assistance because they are contiguous to the impacted Massachusetts counties.
The designations will make all qualified farm operators eligible for low-interest emergency loans from USDA’s Farm Service Agency, providing they met eligibility requirements.
