ALBANY – With a 3.4 percent rate of new jobs in the 12 months ending in August, Ulster County had the highest rate of any county in the Mid-Hudson Region.
The state labor department also announced on Thursday that the Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division saw jobs increase by 2.5 percent. The Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro Area had a 1.4 percent rate of growth from August 2015 through this August.
Private sector jobs grew by 0.9 percent in Sullivan County, and by 0.6 percent in Columbia County, but fell by 0.9 percent in Greene County.
During the same 12 months, Hudson Valley employment grew by 1.7 percent or 13,100 jobs to 796,800.
Jobs were added in education and health services; trade, transportation and utilities; other services; natural resources, mining and construction; and professional and business services. Job losses were mostly centered in financial activities. The government sector added 600 jobs over the period.
