Quaintance

LOCH SHELDRAKE – The SUNY Board appointed John “Jay” Quaintance as the interim president of Sullivan County Community College on Wednesday.
He has been serving as the officer-in-charge of the Loch Sheldrake school since July 28.
Quaintance said the college is on the right course as the new academic year gets underway.
“Our enrollment was actually up over our projections and that comes on the heels of some really great news where SUNY Sullivan was named the number eight two-year college out of 121 schools in New York State. We are hoping with that new ranking and the momentum on our positive enrollment figures that we can carry that into the future.”
Prior to joining the campus, Quaintance was assistant secretary for education to Governor Cuomo for some two years and assistant vice chancellor for community colleges as well as assistant vice chancellor and assistant provost for community college policy and programming at SUNY.  He has a long history with community colleges, first with assignments in the field of student services, where he served as an instructor in Upward Bound and then as the director of TRIO Student Support Services.
Quaintance also worked as an instructor, department chair, and assistant dean of academic affairs at the community college level.
