BUCHANAN – A full-volume test of the Indian Point siren system will be conducted between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21. Sirens will be sounded for four minutes in the 10-mile emergency planning zone in portions of Westchester, Putnam, Orange and Rockland counties.
No action is required on the part of the public during the test. If the sirens were sounded during an actual emergency, residences would be instructed to listen to an emergency alert system radio or TV station for information and instructions about any action to be taken.
The Indian Point nuclear power plant is located along the Hudson River in Buchanan.
