WASHINGTON – The US Department of Homeland Security has granted the Dobbs Ferry Fire Department $235,734 in Assistance to Firefighters funds.
Fire Chief Gerard McIlvain said the federal money will be used to buy 30 new firefighter air packs to replace old packs that have become outdated.  The funding will save local taxpayers “the high cost of having to replace the air packs all at once,” McIlvain said.
“It is vital that local first responders have the equipment they need to respond swiftly and decisively to emergencies,” said Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D, NY17), who announced the funding. “This grant will provide critical resources to the Dobbs Ferry Fire Department so they can continue to keep our communities, neighborhoods, and families safe.”
