NEW ROCHELLE – A recently instituted law in New Rochelle requires all property owners renting to three or more students in the city to register their property on the new Student Housing Business Registry website.
City Business Ambassador Lisa Davis said the law is designed to protect everyone involved.
“The idea behind it is we have in New Rochelle three different colleges and with that we want to protect both the safety of the students that are attending as well as mitigate any negative impacts that the students might have on the surrounding neighborhoods,” Davis said.
New Rochelle’s three colleges are Iona College, Monroe College and the College of New Rochelle.
Registration must be completed by September 30.
