FORT MONTGOMERY – Highlands Town Police have arrested a Fort Montgomery
man after he was observed by officers smoking pot in his driveway with
his underage daughter.
Police said Edward Lyons has been the subject of several community complaints
about drug activity on St. Marks Place. He was arrested after a brief
pursuit at his home.
A large amount of marijuana and Xanax pills were recovered along with
drug paraphernalia.
His daughter, whose age the police did not provide, was taken to police
headquarters with her mother, Michele Lyons.
Lyons was charged with two counts of criminal possession of marijuana,
two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of assault,
stemming from a previous altercation involving his wife and daughter.
Child Protective Services was notified and is investigating the incident.
No charges were filed against the child, and an order of protection was
granted to the spouse.
Lyons was released after posting $500 cash bail.
