NEW PALTZ – The Hudson Valley Technology Development Center has moved its operations from Newburgh to Highland to be closer to SUNY New Paltz and its student interns.
Tech center Executive Director Tom Phillips said the move will provide better access – only four miles to the college – which will benefit the student interns and their manufacturing clients in the development of their products.
“With the 3-D printing center at the school, that fits right in to that sweet spot, that they are there, they have 60-plus 3-D printers that we use an awful lot to develop the first prototypes for our clients, at least the containers and some of that type of thing,” he said.
Phillips said the center is also a tool to entice students to stay in the Hudson Valley when they graduate, and even consider careers in manufacturing. “There is every reason in the world to leave, but we are trying to get them excited to stay,” he said.
