UNION VALE – A Union Vale man is under arrest following a State Police investigation into the theft of a woman’s identity.
Troopers said Alexander Junke, 20, allegedly opened a credit card account using the victim’s Social Security number and name. She then learned the suspect had also used her personal identification to attempt to buy a 2015 car at a California car dealership by forging a family member’s name as the purchaser on a loan application. That car sale was cancelled before it was finalized.
Junke was charged with forgery, attempted identity theft, attempted grand larceny and falsifying business records, all as felonies.  He is in the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond.
Police said additional charges may be pending.
