GOSHEN — An inmate at the Orange County Jail, who suffered a severe medical
event,was revived with first aid provided by fellow inmates and jail staff.
On July 29, the inmate was found in a housing unit unresponsive and being
assisted by fellow inmates.
Jail corrections staff as well as medical staff responded and assisted
the inmate with rescue breathing and chest compressions as well as using
an automatic electronic defibrillator twice prior to Mobile Life Support
Services EMT’s and the Goshen Volunteer Ambulance Corps arrived at the
Goshen facility.
The inmate was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town
of Wallkill for treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.
The sheriff’s office said the inmate’s prognosis is good and responding
corrections officers and jail personnel will be commended for their life-saving
efforts.
