Poughkeepsie traffic stop yields five arrests on gun charges

POUGHKEEPSIE – Five City of Poughkeepsie residents are under arrest following a traffic stop in the area of 190 Mill Street around 5:00 Wednesday afternoon.
City Police found a small amount of marijuana and two loaded handguns in the car. Those guns bring the total of guns seized this year in the City of Poughkeepsie to 23.
Charged with two counts each of criminal possession of a weapon as felonies
were Michael Azua, 19; Zaire Birks, 16; Rayshawn Casanova, 20; Isaiah
Douglas, 17; and Shaquan Perrin, 18. All five are in the Dutchess County
Jail. Bail was set at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond for Azua; $25,000
cash or $50,000 bond for Birks; $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond for Douglass
and Perrin; and $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond for Casanova.
