KINGSTON – A newly released state report shows that 2015 visitor
spending in Ulster County increased by $18 million over the year before.

The county experienced a 3.7 percent rise in traveler spending, marking
the sixth consecutive year that has increased. In 2015, tourists spent
$532.7 million in Ulster.

“We are a true four-season destination for visitors near and far;
whether it’s outdoor recreation, historical attractions or arts
and music, there is something here for everyone; and our proximity to
the New York metro area makes Ulster County a convenience weekend destination
for shopping and dining in our award-winning restaurants,” said
County Executive Michael Hein, who noted it is also “the perfect
place for an extended stay in an exciting resort, relaxing spa or welcoming
hotel or bed and breakfast.”

The entire Catskill region – Ulster, Sullivan, Greene and Delaware
counties – saw tourist spending increase to $1.17 billion. Ulster
represents 46 percent of that.
