TOWN OF CORTLANDT – It is the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War and the Town of Cortlandt is not losing sight of that.
The town has erected several tributes to others who have defended the country and sacrificed their lives for America.
Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi said the time has come to erect a memorial on the front lawn of Town Hall to honor the men and women who served in Vietnam.
“We have built several veterans’ memorials throughout the community; one of them is a Purple Heart Memorial on the front lawn of our Town Hall. We were the first town in Westchester County to have that privilege and distinction,” Puglisi said. “We also have a tribute to all of the branches of the service, all the flags in our courtyard and then we constructed a lovely veterans’ memorial down at our Hudson River waterfront.”
Design of the memorial is being finalized now with hopes of starting construction in September and dedication in October.
