POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Bridge RH-18 on Linden Avenue over the Saw Kill Creek in the Town of Red Hook has been reopened to traffic, five weeks ahead of schedule and within budget.
The bridge was replaced as a joint effort of the Dutchess County Public Works Engineering Department and contractors.
County Executive Marcus Molinaro said the bridge was replaced with the installation of several safety features making it more accessible for all, including new bridge railing, guiderail, signage and drainage. Shoulders were widened with the addition of a 5.6-foot curb-protected sidewalk along the eastern side of the bridge.
The bridge was also raised some seven inches to allow for greater clearance under the bridge during significant storms.
Linden Avenue averages some 3,000 vehicles per day.
