MONTICELLO – Two local police officers had their breakfast in Monticello interrupted Thursday morning when they spotted a man wanted on a warrant and gave chase.
Sullivan County Detective Peter Ramos and Monticello Police Officer Manuel Leon-Martinez were eating around 7:30 a.m. when they spotted Gary Ivory, 46, who was wanted for an assault in connection with a domestic dispute that occurred in August of last year.
The officers followed Ivory, who was with his 15-year-old son. The two walked around a corner and the police took Ivory into custody without incident just as he was handing a package to his son, which contained a loaded .40 caliber handgun.
In addition to the warrant for assault, Ivory was charged with felony possession of a loaded firearm and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.  He was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
