MARLBORO – A 25-year-old Marlboro woman has been charged with felony
criminally negligent homicide after her 10-month-old daughter drowned
Friday evening in the bathtub of her home.

State Police said at around 7:30 p.m. on July 8, Kayla Pagan left her
daughter in the bathtub “for an unreasonable amount of time”
as it was filling with water resulting in the drowning death of the infant.

The baby’s father came home from work and found her still in the
bathtub and attempted CPR. The child was transported by Mobile Life Support
Services ambulance to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh where
she was pronounced dead.

Pagan was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash
bond or $200,000 bond.

State Police assisted Marlborough Town Police at the scene along with
the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
