Ulster jail inmate punches CO in face

KINGSTON – A 16-year-old inmate at the Ulster County Jail is charged with felony assault for punched a corrections officer in the face and wrestling him to the floor when the inmate refused an order to enter his cell.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning, July 7.
The inmate was restrained and received no injuries. The corrections officer, though, did suffer minor injuries and was transported to a nearby healthcare facility where he was treated and released. The inmate may be eligible for youthful offender status, authorities said.
Authorities did not release the names of either party in the incident.       
The inmate was charged with assault and was incarcerated back into the county jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail for an unrelated charge.
