New Paltz Police chief attends White House briefing

NEW PALTZ – Police Chief Joseph Snyder was among the invited police officials to attend a briefing with senior administration officials on the President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing Initiative. It was held on Wednesday at the White House.
The briefing provided an overview of the task force and allowed jurisdictions to discuss strategies for implementation with peers already making progress toward this goal, Snyder said Friday. Local police officials also discussed with administration representatives innovative new ways to improve public trust and confidence in the justice system while promoting public safety.
Snyder said his department has already implemented many topics covered
by the federal task force report. “I anticipate implementing more
after I have I have learned at the White House to enhance the great relationship
we already have with our community members and organizations.”
