NEWBURGH – City Manager Michael Ciaravino expects to name a permanent Newburgh comptroller shortly. Several people have applied for the position since former comptroller John Aber was arrested and resigned for allegedly skimming from city coffers.
In the interim, Ciaravino appointed Kathryn Mack, an employee of the comptroller’s office, as acting head of the department.
“Katie Mack is an exception member of the comptroller’s office, who has applied for the position, and frankly is a very, very strong candidate to beat,” he said.
The city manager expects to make a decision once he interviews all of those who applied for the job.
