ELLENVILLE – A 31-year-old Ellenville man has been charged with
two counts of felony sexual abuse after his sister awoke in bed as he
allegedly pulled her shorts off.
Ellenville Village Police arrested Edward McFarland III, who lived at
the same 12 Park Street address as his sister.
She told police that she was sleeping in her bed on June 21 when she felt
someone holding her arm down from behind and pulling her shorts off while
attempting to engage in a sex act with her.
She resisted, screamed, broke free and identified her alleged attacker
as her brother.
McFarland, who was apprehended by local police, was arraigned and committed
to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond pending
a future court appearance.
