Cop injured during motorcycle training

PUTNAM VALLEY – A police
officer from the West Haven, Connecticut Police Department suffered serious
injuries when ejected from his motorcycle during police training on the
Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Putnam Valley.
The incident occurred around 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday when a group of police
motorcycles was traveling in the southbound lanes at the interchange with
Bryant Pond Road. At that time, another vehicle began to merge from Bryant
Pond Road onto the parkway, forcing several of the motorcycles to take
evasive action. Two struck one another with the West Haven officer, identified
as Michael Doyle, 34, being ejected. He was transported by medivac helicopter
to Westchester Medical Center. The second rider and the motorist were
not injured.
A State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the State Police Cortlandt Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 914-769-2600.
