State inmate charged with punching corrections officer in face

NAPANOCH – A prisoner, who had recently been transferred to Ulster
Correctional Facility in Napanoch from Rikers Island, was charged Friday
with felony assault for punching a corrections officer in the face.

The officer sustained a laceration to his lip as a result.

State Police said inmate Matthew Jacobs, 26, of Queens, had recently been
transferred from the New York City jail when the assault occurred.

Jacobs was being held on the assault charge pending a future court appearance
in Town of Wawarsing Court.
