TOWN OF WALLKILL – Two kittens and a puppy were stolen from the
Middletown Humane Society headquarters on Bloomingburg Road in the Town
of Wallkill some time overnight between June 6 and 7, and local police
and society officials are investigating.

The two kittens were recovered – one outside the shelter and the
other by a resident of the Mountain Avenue area of Middletown. The latter
was returned to the Humane Society after the resident saw a posting on
Facebook.

The female puppy named “Izzie” remains missing.

Society President Marlene Freehill said Tuesday that it is believed the
burglars bypassed the alarm system and gain access to the building through
a window.
“We had the alarm company come in and review our security system
and we are certainly going to add to it and that being said, we need the
community’s help in finding this puppy. We are very worried that
perhaps like the kitten, she was dumped. We think it might be in that
area in the City of Middletown. That is why we have been going up and
down the street handing out flyers, talking with people. No one up there
has seen the puppy,” she said.

The Humane Society has offered a $500 reward for the safe return of Izzie.
