PATTERSON The seventh annual Patterson Relay for Life cancer walk brought out hundreds of participants on Saturday and raised $120,000.
The weather did not cooperate, but “We are a lot stronger than some rain,” said Tracey Walsh, a cancer survivor and one of the event organizers.
“We are a community unified to fight cancer,” Walsh said. “Many heroes are found each day in the fight against cancer. There are survivors, caregivers, doctors, donors and personal heroes.”
Nicole O’Brien, who is fighting the disease, was the honorary chairwoman, who lit the relay torch.
The event raised $120,000 for the American Cancer Society, which brought the seven-year total to $600,000.
