VAILS GATE – A 35-year-old Highland Falls man has died after being
stabbed while inside the ShopRite supermarket on Windsor Highway in Vails
Gate Saturday morning.
New Windsor Police received a report at about 9:40 am. of a stabbing.
They found an unconscious man in the fresh vegetables department. He had
been stabbed in the neck.
The victim was rushed to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital where he
died. His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
About an hour later, at 10:30 a.m., police located a suspect inside the
store and took him into custody. Andrew Goodenough, 35, of New Windsor,
was charged with murder.
The investigation is continuing into a motive.
