TOWN OF NEWBURGH – It has been 12 years since beautician Yvonne Torch was found brutally murdered in her shop on Route 9W in Balmville. She was 31 when she was killed on June 9, 2004 and State Police have hit dead ends in every step of their investigation.
Senior Investigator Neal Moscato said it is very frustrating to have exhausted all leads.
“It was a tragic event that day and unfortunately it will be forever etched in the minds of those near and dear to her and we continue to plug along; however, this case took on many, many different leads that were pursued, but unfortunately, none were viable enough to make a difference,” he said.
Moscato said based on the nature of Torch’s wounds, “it is fair to categorize this as a crime of passion.”
He hopes that with a little luck and continued investigation, the police can solve the case.
