ALBANY – The New York State Police Search Committee has unanimously
recommended Lt. Col. George Beach as the new superintendent of the State
Police.

Governor Cuomo has also nominated him to the post saying he is “supremely
qualified to serve” as superintendent.

Beach would replace Joseph D’Amico, who retired after serving in
the top post since 2011.

Beach, who has been with the State Police for 33 years, has long-standing
ties to the Mid-Hudson Valley having served as commander of Troop T on
the New York Thruway and served as captain at Troop F serving five Mid-Hudson
counties on the west side of the Hudson River.
