Zimpher speaking to Ulster County business people in 2013

ALBANY – State University of New York Chancellor Nancy Zimpher announced on Tuesday this will be her final year in that position.
Dr. Pamela Edington, president of Dutchess County Community College for the past two years, will miss Zimpher.
“One of the reasons I wanted to come to Dutchess was, I know how important the leadership of the chancellor is within the system and I really appreciated her vision and the energy with which she came to her job, so I really enjoyed working with her,” Edington said. “She uses the term ‘systemness’ to convey her vision for the 64 SUNY campuses operating collaboratively, such as seamless transfer between our institutions for our students.”
Zimpher said at a time when SUNY “has become the go-to model for higher education nationally and our campuses are realizing their full capacity for systemness, it is more important than ever that we continue to increase access, completion, and success for all students and fulfill our promises of quality, affordable higher education and economic development for every family, business, and community across New York State.”
SUNY Board Chairman H. Carl McCall said during her seven-year tenure, Zimpher “has transformed SUNY and lifted our system up as the national model of higher education for the 21st century.”
