Saugerties man charged with killing ex-girlfriend in Saugerties

SAUGERTIES – A 41-year-old Saugerties man has been committed to
the Ulster County Jail without bail for allegedly killing his estranged
girlfriend in Saugerties Tuesday night.

Police said Karon Bowden of 26 Randle Court in the Town of Saugerties
is accused of shooting 24-year-old Amy Burger to death. Police found her
body at that address after they received an abandoned 911 call at 9:43
p.m.

Bowden was taken into custody and charged with murder and criminal possession
of a firearm. Bowden was taken into custody at the scene and charged with

murder weapon, a handgun, was recovered at the scene and it appears it
was not licensed by the suspect.

Saugerties Police were assisted in the investigation by State Police and
the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

This is the second homicide that Saugerties Police investigated in less
than a week. Earl Edwards, 26, is charged with stabbing Rameen Perry,
40, to death last Thursday during an argument. He, too, is being held
without bail.
