TOWN OF WALLKILL – Work to build sidewalks from Dunning Road in the Town of Wallkill’s shopping center district to the Middletown city line is expected to begin this summer.
The $2 million government grant is in place and the project should go out to bid shortly.
Town Supervisor Daniel Depew said it will not only make the road safer for pedestrians, but also provide aesthetic improvements.
“The image of the improvement is going to mirror very much that of what we accomplished on Winning Way with the antique LED street lamps, the iconic ‘Welcome to Wallkill’ banners that decorate that area, there will also be additional landscaping improvements along Route 211 with this project,” Depew said.
Winning Way is the new road that connects the Galleria at Crystal Run with the Orange Plaza and brings traffic under Route 211.
