Unemployment falls in all area counties

ALBANY – The unemployment rates in all area counties continued to decline during the month of April when compared to the same month last year.
Columbia and Putnam counties both had 3.7 percent rates of joblessness.
Columbia was at 4.2 percent in April 2015 while Putnam was at 4.1 percent. 
Those two counties tied with two others, Nassau and Saratoga, to tie for
the second lowest unemployment rate in the state. Only Tompkins County
was lower.
Dutchess and Westchester Counties, tied for seventh place in the state,
each had 4.0 percent unemployment in April. Dutchess both fell from 4.5
percent during the same month in 2015. Orange County came in at 4.1 percent
joblessness.
Ulster County had 4.3 percent unemployment, compared to 4.9 percent last
April.
Sullivan County, with 5.0 percent, fell from 5.7 percent one year earlier.
Greene County, at 5.7 percent in April, fell from 6.2 percent unemployment during the same month in 2015.
