Man attacks corrections officer while being booked at Orange County Jail

GOSHEN – A Montgomery man who was being booked at the Orange County Jail on a burglary charge is now facing more trouble after he attacked a corrections officer.
On Wednesday, May 18 as Joseph James,, 45, was being booked, he began to fight with a corrections officer, grabbing the officer by the throat. A struggle ensured and other officers assisted in restraining and placing James in handcuffs.
James was charged additionally with felony assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and obstructing governmental administration.  He is the county jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
The officer who was assaulted was treated and released at Orange Regional Medical Center.
