WESTFALL TOWNSHIP, PA – A six-year-old girl was killed in a two-car crash on I-84 in Westfall Township, Pennsylvania, a few miles from the New York border.
Police say she was an unrestrained passenger in the back seat of a car driven by Tammy Mathisen, 44, of Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania. State Police said the driver failed to see that traffic was stopped due to construction and slammed into the rear of another car, driven by a Norwich, Connecticut woman.
The six-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis.
Both drivers sustained moderate injuries. Two passengers in the second car, including a two-month-old boy, were both in restrains and were uninjured.
The investigation is continuing.
Eastbound traffic, heading to New York, was diverted off 84, through Milford Borough and up Routes 6/209 before getting back on 84 at the Matamoras exit.  Delays were extensive.
