HUGHSONVILLE – Flames spread rapidly as fire consumed much of a house at 6 Woodland Court in the Hughsonville section of the Town of Wappinger on Monday. The town fire inspector arrived within two minutes to find the front of the house on the first and second floors well involved in fire. A second alarm was sounded for additional tankers to provide water to battle the blaze.
One resident was taken to the hospital for injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Hughsonville firefighters were assisted by Arlington, Chelsea, Fishkill, Glenham, New Hamburg, Rombout, Wappingers Falls, East Fishkill and LaGrange fire departments, as well as Mobile Life Support Services, State Police, Dutchess County Emergency Response team and the county Fire Investigation Division.
