HAMDEN – Republican congressional candidate Robert Bishop, who was
seeking the party nod to run for the 19th district seat being vacated
by the retiring Christopher Gibson, announced on Tuesday that he was withdrawing
from the primary election. That leaves John Faso and Andrew Heaney as
the Republican candidates Bishop urged fellow members of the party to
back Faso on the GOP and Conservative lines.

Bishop said Faso “possesses the skills and passion needed to win
the race.”

The winner of the GOP primary will face off in the November election against
Democrat Zephyr Teachout.
