NEW PALTZ – SUNY New Paltz President Dr. Donald Christian expects next year’s student enrollment to be at about the same level that it is today – some 8,000 students.  Applications for the fall semester are up and prospective students are showing concrete interest, he said.
“Getting the applications is one thing, but the real key is getting students to commit to come to your institution rather than another one and our deposits this year are running ahead of last year both for first year students and transfer students,” Christian said. “It reflects the increasing popularity and reputation of SUNY New Paltz.”
One new program, mechanical engineering, has help spur increased enrollment in the last couple of years.
