MAHOPAC – A Mahopac man and woman have been arrested following
a two-month investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office
Narcotics Enforcement Unit.

Mr. Maheer Issa Jamal, 27, and Ms. Liridona Krasniqi, 24, who both live
at 254 Wixon Pond Road in Mahopac, were arrested Friday morning when officers
armed with arrest warrants pulled over the car in which they were traveling
near their home.
According to the charges, Jamal allegedly sold heroin to an undercover
sheriff’s deputy on three occasions over the last two months. The
drug sales reportedly took place at the front door of the suspects’
home while Krasniqi was present.

During the investigation, information was developed that the suspects
had an arsenal of loaded firearms inside their house. A warrant search
right after the two were arrested netted over 100 bags of heroin, a number
of prescription painkillers and concentrated cannabis. The drugs had an
estimated street value of $3,000 to $4,000.

Over $1,500 in cash was recovered.

Also found in the residents were two assault-style rifles with high-capacity
magazines and two 12-gauge shotguns. One of the rifles and one of the
shotguns were loaded. A supply of ammunition for all of the weapons was
also recovered.

Both Jamal and Krasniqi were charged with several counts of drug possession
and weapons possessions.

Jamal was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail
or $50,000 bond. Krasniqi was remanded on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
If convicted, both could face up to 27 years in state prison.
