Napoli

KINGSTON – A Pine Bush resident will spend up to two years in jail, the maximum punishment allowable by law on his conviction of aggravated cruelty to animals.  Eric Napoli was convicted of tying his housemate’s six-year-old huskie, Luna, to a backyard tree and shooting her to death with a shotgun loaded with leaded birdshot.
Ulster County Court Judge Donald Williams called Napoli’s conduct “chilling” and that he “could not imagine how someone could point a shotgun at an innocent creature who just wanted to be loved by human beings.”
Napoli must pay restitution to the dog owner and forfeit any ownership he has with companion animals.  An order of protection was issued for the pet owner.
As part of the sentence, Napoli must register with the recently enacted Ulster County Animal Abuse Registry.
