Fatal crash in Tuxedo claims life of 16-year-old


TUXEDO – One person was
killed and another injured early Saturday morning when the vehicle in
which they were riding crashed on Long Meadow Road in Tuxedo, authorities
said. The 5:30 a.m. one-car accident occurred near the Watchtower facilities.

Police said the vehicle was traveling southwest when it left the road
and struck a utility pole and an earth embankment.

The driver was identified as Jacob Corti, 16, of Greenwood Lake. He was
airlifted to Westchester Medical Center with injuries to his legs. The
passenger, Dale Hirrel, also 16, of Greenwood Lake, was pronounced dead
at the scene by the Orange County Medical Examiner.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information
