SUNY Sullivan dorm

LOCH SHELDRAKE – The dormitory at SUNY Sullivan County Community College has 330 beds and just over 200 are occupied at $2,975 per semester.
The Dormitory Corporation wants to increase the occupancy and will offer the rent for $1,000 per semester to the first 20 students who apply to move in, said Board Chairman Steven Kaufman.
“If I can bring in students even for $1,000 locally at the college, it is going to help offset our fixed expenses that we have. Our mortgage payment is going to be fixed regardless of the number of students that we have, the salaries for our employees, our security; we have a number of fixed expenses, so it helps us as a dormitory corporation to have this extra income,” Kaufman said.
SUNY Sullivan has another perk for students. Anyone with an academic average of 90 or higher can attend school with their tuition waved under the “Presidential Scholarship” program.
