WHITE PLAINS – A 19-year-old New Rochelle man was arraigned in Westchester
County Court on Tuesday in connection with the death of Iona College student
Brandon Lawrence on April 3.

Stivenson Desir, 19, was arraigned on a charge or murder and two counts
of criminal possession of a weapon, all as felonies.

Acting Westchester District Attorney James McCarty said the victim was
found shot dead on a ball field at Lincoln Park in New Rochelle.

Investigation by New Rochelle Police and the DA’s office revealed
that Lawrence and Desir had attended a party hours earlier at an apartment
described as off-campus housing used by Iona College.

Following the party, a group of five men who attended, including the victim
and the defendant, went to Lincoln Park and while there, two of the men
engaged in a pre-arranged fist fight.

As the others were watching, Desir allegedly pulled a handgun and shot
Lawrence once in the torso killing him.

Later that day, Desir was located at his apartment by police and placed
under arrest. He remains in the county jail without bail.

If convicted, he faces from 15 years to life in prison.
