WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man who was a New York City Police officer,
was sentenced in Westchester County Court to nine years in state prison
on each felony count for which he pled guilty last fall.

Brendan Cronin, 29, was charged with two counts of attempted murder and
two counts of assault, all felonies, and a misdemeanor of driving while
intoxicated.

On April 29, 2914 just before midnight, Cronin, an off-duty patrolman,
started driving home after a day of in-service training in the Bronx and
then spending several hours at a bar.

While his car was parked near the intersection if Sixth and Lincoln avenues,
he walked up to a car occupied by two people that was stopped at a traffic
light and fired several shots from a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun into
their car.

One victim was struck six times and suffered serious injuries including
gunshots to his back, shoulder, arm and check, which required surgeries.
Cronin then left the scene and was stopped a few blocks away by Pelham
Police and later arrested.
