POUGHKEEPSIE – Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump will roll into Poughkeepsie Sunday afternoon and city officials are gearing up for the visit.
Mayor Robert Rolison, a retired police officer, will be meeting with the Trump Secret Service detail to learn of the timetable of the trip and their needs and requirements. They will undoubtedly include using city resources, noted the mayor.
“There will be costs that the city will incur based on our staffing of the event, not only from the police department, but the department of public works because you could be looking at street closures and things like that. Parking will be something that will have to be implemented and make sure all of our city lots available for parking,” Rolison said. “There are a lot of things that will go into having an event with a presidential candidate.”
Bernie Sanders was in the Town of Poughkeepsie, at Marist College, on Tuesday evening.
The New York primary is next Tuesday.  Polls have Trump and Hillary Clinton with solid leads on the Republican and Democrat lines.
