GOSHEN – The woman who has been Orange County finance commissioner
for a little under a year-and-a-half, Tawnya Muhlrad, is stepping down
from her post.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus said Muhlrad has accepted the position
of treasurer with the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District. Her last
day with the county will be April 29.

“The Monroe-Woodbury school district has made a good choice as I
know Tawnya had extensive fiscal experience with Orange-Ulster BOCES before
she came to county government.”

Muhlrad was appointed to the county post in December 2014. She was responsible
for administering the county’s finances, including banking, investment,
debt issuance, payroll, accounts payable, property tax collection, and
financial reporting.

“We accomplished a lot during my time with Orange County government,”
Muhlrad said.
