WHITE PLAINS – A New Rochelle man pled guilty in Westchester County Court on Thursday to raping a developmentally and physically disabled woman who worked as a grocery store bagger.
Fitton Telesford, 38, pled guilty to the crimes of attempted rape and rape, both felonies.
The 39-year-old victim was approached by Telesford on February 7, 2015 while she was working at the store. During her lunch break, he identified himself under an assumed name and told her he would take her out for pizza. When they got in his car, he drove a short distance to an indoor shopping center parking lot, told her to get in the back seat and raped her. He then drove her back to the supermarket where she worked and that is when she reported the attack.
DNA evidence identified Telesford as the assailant, who was arrested on May 4.
He remains in the Westchester County Jail pending sentencing in June when he could receive 3 ½ to 15 years in state prison plus 15 years of post-release supervision and could be subject to civil confinement at the end of his prison term.
