GOSHEN – The developers of a Legoland resort have yet to decide if they will build a theme part in the Mid-Hudson Valley after the Town of Haverstraw said “thanks, but no thanks.”
Orange County has pitched the company a few sites and County Executive
Stephen Neuhaus is cautiously optimistic that one will be chosen. If that
is the case, he has spoken to US Senator Charles Schumer about his backing.
“He was there to lend his support if Legoland comes to Orange County,”
Neuhaus said after he spoke recently with the senator while in the county.
“The same type of support that we have seen at Amy’s [food
manufacturers], he’s offering the same type of support from Legoland
if they choose Orange County,” said the county executive, noting
Schumer said he would assist with any federal regulatory issues that might
arise.
Another Rockland County town, Ramapo, has recently stepped forward also offering a location.  Dutchess County reached out as well, although County Executive Marcus Molinaro acknowledged his county would be a longshot for the project.
