The proposal to make Market Street two-way
surfaces, again

POUGHKEEPSIE – The central business district in downtown Poughkeepsie is headed for some significant upgrades.
The Pace Land Use Law Center has previously drafted a plan.  Mayor Robert Rolison said the Dyson Foundation has just reauthorized funding to begin implementation of the plan.
That, the mayor said, will include key points.
“Three of the areas that have been identified for implementation are the dedicated Main Street bus line, also the two-way Market Street and a third is a comprehensive zoning review that is specifically for the central business district and the outlying areas as well,” Rolison said.
Right now, the busiest portion of Market Street by the courts, Dutchess County Office Building, the Bardavon theater and the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, is one way.
